Commercial printing, lithographic

Lithography

ICD Global is a commercial lithographic printer. Our offset work is built on an old and exacting principle: oil and water do not mix.

The offset process

Plate, blanket,
sheet.

The image is never printed directly. It is offset, from plate to blanket to paper, which is where the process takes its name.

  1. The plate

Image areas on the printing plate attract ink, while non-image areas hold water and repel it.

  2. The blanket

The inked image transfers, or “offsets”, from the plate onto a rubber blanket cylinder.

  3. The sheet

The blanket presses the image onto paper, one color at a time, building the finished piece.

Four process inks

Full color, from
four inks.

In four-color process printing each ink is printed from its own plate, and all four must land in register.

Cyan

Lays down the blues and greens of the image.

Magenta

Adds reds and pinks; overlaps cyan for purples and deep blues.

Yellow

Completes the three process colors that build full color.

Black

The “key”: depth, crisp type and fine detail.

Applied to clinical trials

Lithography in service of research.

We put commercial lithographic printing to work on recruiting materials, study guides, site binders and clinical trial documentation, with fulfillment and distribution under the same roof.
